Indian Camp Creek Park, with its 603 acres, is the largest park in St. Charles County near Wentzville. Indian Camp Creek Park, with its more than ten miles of multi-use trails for hiking, bicycling, and equestrian usage, has become a favorite destination for many outdoor enthusiasts.
The park officially opened its doors in 2006, five years after the majority of its property had been given. It is named after Indian Camp Creek, which flows through the park and merges with Big Creek. The parks department places a strong emphasis on preserving and highlighting the area’s natural history, which is a priority for the agency.
The park’s unique Eco Playground is a popular gathering area for youngsters during the hot summer months. The year-round open exclusive group camping area is ideal for big parties, organizations, scouts, and other group trips; eight individual campsites are also available. Climb to the top of the rebuilt silo, which doubles as an observation tower, and explore the park’s lovely grasslands, large forested slopes, and protected habitats. The park’s 18-hole state-of-the-art disc golf course offers long and short tee pads on each hole, as well as three rotating pin placements.
Fishing is abundant near the confluence of Big Creek and Indian Camp Creek. Additionally, the property’s big lake is stocked with bluegill, bass, and catfish. Visit the historic Cannon family cemetery on park land, which has been conserved to reflect the region’s heritage. The historical cemetery contains some headstones dating from the early nineteenth century.
Another historical interpretative feature in the park is a “ghost structure” exhibit of the original log cabin, which was believed to have been constructed in the late 1800s.
