Forest Park is a public park in the city of St. Louis, Missouri which covers 1,371 acres and is the setting for several major institutions. It is considered one of the best public spaces in America with free admission. The park's history dates back to 1865 when Charles P. Chouteau donated 108-acres for its creation. There are numerous pieces of artwork within the park.
The park was originally named Lafayette Park, but renamed in 1876 to honor its natural setting instead of the former President. One of its most notable features is the Jewel Box which was built in 1936 as a public restroom and greenhouse. However, since then, it has become an event space with four green rooms, a catering kitchen, and dressing rooms. It's also home to the Emerson Grand Basin which is a fountain with a light show.
