Saint Stanislaus is a conservation area steeped in nature and history. Located 5 miles away from Florissant, MO and easy reach of residential areas in north St. Louis County, the area was named for the former Saint Stanislaus Seminary which used this site for a retreat. It has an area of 56 acres (22.3 hectares) and the shores on both the Mississippi River and Huzzah Creek.
Today, the Saint Stanislaus Conservation Area is very popular for fishing, canoeing/kayaking, picnicking and hiking. The area is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). The amenities in the Saint Stanislaus Conservation Area include:
The Saint Stanislaus Conservation Area is place for outdoor recreation in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, offering fishing ponds for panfish and bass, opportunities to hike through areas of shallow swamps, bottomland forests and open meadows, along with historic landmarks like an old grist mill that dates back to 1868.
